daily / clipart rights

Donna did a poster for World IP Day. Originally, she had "obtained" lightbulbs from somewhere, but as she couldn't verify whether she was actually allowed to use those, I did a new one.

Idea!Of course, I made it Public Domain. If you want to use, abuse, modify or edit it, find it on openclipart.org.

The apple was done by James Birkett, who also made his art freely available.

See, Intellectual Property is not about having to pay to use content. It's about sharing and improving that content, to make everyone's life easier.

daily / more theft

More crime today. The chilli plant I was given by my in-laws, is no longer where it was yesterday. I can only assume someone saw it, laden with chillis, and decided it needed to be stolen.

Of course, unlike my bicycle, in this case just taking off two of three chillies would have been fine. But nooo...

Next week I will talk on revising Australias gun laws.

Here is a patch for gtkpod 0.99.2 that should allow you to import h.264 video and plonk it onto your iPod:

daily / morons

I just read a headline in the paper "Bush wants airstrike against Iran". Supposedly because Iran is developing nuclear weapons. So what if they are?

Strange how a country that 1) has nuclear weapons and 2) has used nuclear weapons should tell another country to stop developing them or face military action. "Stop developing a defense against us, or we'll attack you".

I hope that if such an airstike is lauched, someone sensible will actually get the UN to condemn such unilateral actions and impose some sort of sanction against the US. George Bush needs to be told that he's a bad dog.

Of course, intellectual property laws would be used as deterrent against this by the US.

Team America, World Police, here we come. What a fucked-up world this is.
