daily / gall update

Hurray, I had my first bath in 2 weeks, after removing the dressings from the wounds today.

It's all looking OK and not at all disgusting and/or scary. Coz the dressings are gone now, the massive itching has stopped. Yaaaaaaaaay! :-)

Oddly, the hole that had the drainage tube coming out, and was weeping a bit for 3 days after the operation, is the one that has healed best sofar.

work / spam

One good thing about going to hospital is that, in the week(s) following, you can pretty much tell clients to go away and spend some much needed time on re-tweaking your own servers, without being interrupted by phone calls every ten minutes.

Yesterday I spent a few hours migrating coffee from sendmail to postfix, as the latter is much easier to tweak and includes excellent filtering capabilities. After having done this, our network now universally runs postfix, so I don't need to maintain several syntactically different config files.

Yay for me!

Since migrating all client mail services to caffeine, coffee has been receiving mainly spam for our oldest domains. As of today, with a suitably fascist postfix setup, it rejects 94% of mail outright (by checking client FQDN, using RBL lookups and doing integrated header and body regex checks). The rest is then piped through the SpamAssassin server. All good!

daily / the saga

Not much to report, healing as expected. I can lay on my stomach again and walking causes no pain. Sitting on a chair for an hour or so makes my lower ribs hurt a bit though, I wonder if they got nudged them when the surgeon made the top 2 holes (they're just below the ribs).

daily / operation

Yay, it's all done. The operation went smoothly and I was back home 18 hours after waking up in the recovery ward. Spending the next 2 days mainly in bed and on the fold-out couch in the living room.

I have a bit of a stomach ache, but it feels more like muscle pain than anything else.

All good!
