daily / progress report

Migration to the new server is going well. I have nearly all mail domains running there now and am producing pretty graphs of numbers of virus and spam mails blocked by the server :-)

I still need to port a few PHP modules to run with PHP4.3 on Debian/Sarge, so I can migrate the 10 or so websites that depend on them. If Sarge is released before PHP5 is included, I'll at least not have to do it all over again in a few months time.

The XAX surveys are working correctly now and data can be exported. I do need to convert the result query array from a (currently) 5500x5 matrix into something like a hash table, because PHP overruns the 30 second runtime limit if I try to parse it into 110 repondent arrays.

Yesterday we did the first bit of work for a new client, http://www.boatcruises.com.au/ - their new ship is now listed on the website. (And a pretty ship she is too!)

And oh, I have a set of big orange/blue flippers now.

daily / typical

I was just reading a newspaper article [ http://www.volkskrant.nl/buitenland/1089954906086.html ] that claims the US are blocking Germany from getting into the UN security council. Apparently they don't want anyone in there who has a history of disagreeing with them. (About say going to war in Iraq or giving yanks immunity to the international court of justice)
How bloody typical.

work / dns issues

And after a few days of DNS issues. all servers are now talking to eachother like they're supposed to. I just added a new status section to the CC website as well. http://www.cc.com.au/status.php

work / athlon64

I played with my first Athlon64 the other day, as I was building a system for a client. Fun toys! And the best thing is, this was the first system ever that was fully supported by Linux, but not by Windows XP. *ha* Windows couldn't see the SATA controller and NIC, but Debian detected and used them just fine.

And yes, that does include the 64bit Windows XP trial as well.
