daily / 3G

Well, home and free at last. I spent the last four days setting up, zipping around for and manning a booth for Open Source Victoria at the Small Business tradeshow. *wheee!*

The stand next to ours belonged to "3", the mobile phone/data provider and they graciously let us play with a Merlin U530 CDMA pcmcia card under Linux.

I didn't get it to fully work, however I did get ppp to connect and obtain an IP, as well as DNS IPs.

I found http://gk.umstrials.co.uk/~calum/u530.php and did a small change after checking the Windows software's XML settings file.

Here's the settings (sim needs to be inserted for this to work):

AT S7=45 S0=0 S10=255 L1 V1 X4 &c1 E1 Q0
AT&F
AT+CMEE=1
AT+GDCONT=1,"IP","3netaccess"

daily / election

And the Australian federal election results are in! Australians have voted for 3 more years of small-minded US-centric fascism. Hurray!

On a slightly more positive note, I've found out I can get dual citizenship, so I can vote against the bastards at the next election.
